Description
Inrad is seeking a hands-on individual to add to our team in Northvale, NJ. We are looking for a person with the ability to keep equipment vital to the production of our optical components and assemblies running and in peak condition. A successful candidate will be able to troubleshoot issues with equipment and facilitate a prompt and reliable return to running status with proper communication as it proceeds. Key responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical processing equipment such as diamond turning lathes, modified surface grinders, vertical mills, and spindle machines to name a few
- Troubleshoot and repair of pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical sub-systems within processing equipment
- Observe equipment after repair or follow up with production personnel to verify smooth operation
- Troubleshooting of ancillary equipment such as air compressors, dryers, evaporators and coordinate external service contract personnel
- Make recommendations to equipment, tooling or sub-systems that improve efficiency, uptime or longevity of equipment
- Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks such as fluid changes, belt replacement, greasing ways and so forth
- Assist Engineering in the design and fabrication of new equipment
- Issue purchase requisitions to Purchasing function for necessary machine parts
- Keep Preventative Maintenance logs up to date and recommend improvements
- Communicate and cooperate with associates, managers and other departments to resolve issues, improve equipment and reduce downtime
Key requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, 2 year Technical/Associates Degree preferred
- Excellent mechanical aptitude and familiarity with basic mechanical equipment sub-systems and operation such as gears, spindles, pulleys
- Hands-on background in pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical sub-systems such as actuators, pistons, solenoids, etc.
- Expert in the use of various hand tools
- Effective interpersonal skills to relay information and plan activities
- Ability to read and follow electrical schematics to diagnose failures.
- Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or with others
- Strong time management and task prioritization skills
- Ability to lift at least 35 pounds
- Ability to crouch, kneel and squat for long periods of time
- Must be fully vaccinated
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident as we are a United States controlled information facility
